The young apprentice was proud with himself. Dropping his catch, he smiled wide.
"Should we bring it back to camp?" At that, Lunarpaw's stomach growled loudly.

Howlstar laughed--but to Lunarpaw's dismay, shook his head.
"Not just yet, little one. Let's try to catch some more to feed the Clan this morning, hm?"
He gestured to the forest with his tail. "Why don't you hunt in that place between the pine trees? I'll go in a different direction and hunt, too."

Lunarpaw nodded and took off to catch more prey. By sunhigh, he had collected two mice and one bird. Placing them in a pile, he sat on the ground and looked around for his mentor.
Where could he have gone?

Howlstar didn't appear for a long few minutes after that.
When he finally did find his apprentice, he seemed breathless, but was smiling--actually, he was beaming at the pile of kills that Lunarpaw had procured.
"Look at that! Excellent work today, Lunarpaw!" he grinned, sweeping his tail. "I think tomorrow, I'll teach you how to catch frogs. For now, let's take all of our kills back to camp."
...Of course, what Howlstar failed to mention was that he had a rather notable pile of kills, himself. Several frogs and toads, a number of birds, a mouse so plump that it was the size of one of his paws, and--a rabbit?
"I may have to make two trips," he commented lightly as he bent to try picking up as much as he could. He could easily get the frogs and the birds, and just barely the tail of the mouse, but the rabbit posed another problem.

"Heh I'll let the apprentices know meself," Greypatch purred as he exited out of the elders den after checking up on them, "Ya'll take now." The deputy had sent out a small hunting patrol, trusting Howlstar and Lunarpaw to bring back a bountiful load, afterall Lunarpaw looked ready to tackle two territories worth of prey this morning. The dawn patrol had returned with no nasty surprises and the sunhigh patrol had left not so long ago. The tom took great pride in assuring things were well organized in Shadowclan he even took it upon himself to double check on the queens and elders every day.
But right now he could relax and was doing just that; in a sunny spot that warmed his patchy fur, he kept an ear open for Howlstar and Lunarpaw's return wanting to hear just how well the young cat had done today.

Oceanbell was rather quick to lose patience with Mistakepelt and Naturekit; it wasn't like her to sit still for very long conversing with others, after all.
She had just turned around and was intending to scrape up what she could from the tiny fresh-kill pile when a splotchy gray-and-white pelt caught her eye.
When she noted Greypatch, for a moment, she entertained the thought of pestering him. Or at least settling by him; that was a warm spot in the camp he had claimed. And since the fresh-kill pile didn't really have anything she wanted in it...
Well. Why not?
Before she could change her mind, she brought herself around and approached the Clan deputy, tail lightly sweeping the ground behind her and ears perked up.
"Room for one more over here?"

"Certainly," He wriggled over so Oceanbell could have most of the sunlight, he couldn't help stretching out his front legs in front of him finding the feeling of moving after lying so still to be blissful. "If this is what is like being an elder, maybe I won't mind it one bit!"

"Psh. You'd be a real lazy elder," Oceanbell snorted--playfully, or, well, what she hoped was playfully (she wasn't good at this "being social" thing.)
Still, she settled in when the spot was offered to her, murmuring a thanks and giving a rather heavy sigh as the heat of the sun began to warm her fur.

"That'd so uh, and ya'd be a real grumpy one!" Greypatch snorted back rolling over onto his back so his belly could warm up too, "Always goin' on an' on about yer beddin.'"

"Yep. And I'd make the apprentices fetch it for me and check my pelt for ticks every day!" Oceanbell huffed--amused at the mere thought of being an elder. Maybe for a day or two, but not for the rest of her days.
Hopefully, it was still moons and moons away from that moment.
Still, flopping on to her side, she lazily peered in Greypatch's direction, eyeing him as a silence trickled between them, both light and calming--or at least, in her opinion it was.

"Ah'll be sure to keep far away from ya when ya do get ticks!" Greypatch huffed back.
The tom stretched his paws in front of him, he too thought that the two cats had found themselves in a rare and comfortable silence. The type of silence clanmates at ease seemed to find with each other, when no threat from other clans could ruffle their fur and the warmth of the warmer seasons kept their bellies full.

But as the minutes went on, and the silence stretched further, Oceanbell...
...Oceanbell actually started to doze off.
At first, it could be noted how she was trying to keep herself awake; there would be the occasional flinch or shake of her head, maybe a hushed mumble. Gradually, however, they grew less and less frequent, until finally she was carried off in to dreams.

He only noticed Oceanbell had fallen asleep when he heard her soft regular breathing, he felt honoured that the she-cat felt so comfortable as to drift off with him around. Some part of him felt protective over her, so he rolled back onto his tummy keeping watch against invisible enemies.
His mind drifted of to old memories and recent worries, he wondered how Howstar was faring with his new apprentice if the peace between the clans would last and even if tomorrow they would have new kits to look forward to train.

Oceanbell continued to snooze, undisturbed by the goings-on around her.
Across the way, however, there was a rustling at the camp entrance; the familiar pelt of Howlstar began to push his way in to camp, struggling to carry his big pile of kills with his apprentice not far behind him.

Owlpaw stretched his legs. They ached from patroling the borders for so long. He watched Oceanbell and Graypatch relaxing in the sunlight. He wished he could join them, but he didn't think he'd be welcomed.
A rustle from the entrance distracted him. Howlstar was back with Lunarpaw. Owlpaw waved his tail in greeting to his fellow apprentice. Both of them had a lot of prey. He wondered if he should offer to help, but decided against it.

With a stretch and a great yawn, Oceanbell woke up.
Her pelt was almost too warm from sleeping in the sun for as long as she did, but it was easy to ignore as she heaved herself upright.
A quick stretch of her front paws, then her back paws, and a great yawn was given before she was finally able to look around and take in the state of the camp.
There was Howlstar over by the fresh-kill pile, talking with Lunarpaw. Greypatch was still sleeping beside her, but that was fine; she had no interest in waking him up anytime soon.
Finally, she noticed Owlpaw, her own apprentice who was somewhat nearby. He looked bored--plus, she didn't want anyone to think she was lazy, sleeping the day away--so, with a bit of a sigh, she trotted off in Owlpaw's direction.
"Hey," she greeted the young tom. "Up for some battle training?"

Owlpaw looked up startled by Oceanbell's approach. "Y-yeah!" He jumped to his paws, causing a cloud of dust to rise. "Absolutely!"

"Good," Oceanbell meowed--and without another second's hesitation, or even waiting to see if Owlpaw would actually follow or not, she began to lead the way for the camp exit. "Then let's go."

Owlpaw was taken aback by Oceanbell's quickness. He stood for a moment staring after her. "O-ok!" He hurried to follow his mentor out of the camp.

Initially, Oceanbell was quiet. To be honest, she was still sleep-muddled, and didn't particularly feel like training... Although, that was a lazy way of thinking, and even she knew it. Still, that didn't boost her motivation much at all.
Also, she realized as they were padding in to the forest, that she hadn't had any specific location in mind to do their training. Whoops. Better not look a fool for that one...
"Owlpaw," she meowed from over her shoulder, continuing to pad along. Of course not looking at him all the while. "Have I taught you all of the parts to the warrior code yet?"
