Salmonstar lead his clan into the clearing below the four mighty oaks with head and tail high. He twitched his whiskers, pleased to see that Riverclan was the first clan to arrive. He sat down on a soft patch of grass near the Great Rock and watched his clan settle in to wait for the others.

Tabs--well... he'd be lying if he said he was excited for tonight's Gathering. In all honesty, Salmonstar had had to wake him up from a nap so he could be in attendance, and as happy as he was to mingle with other Clan cats... his sleep came first.
Still, he was present at least, sitting not too far from the Great Rock and yawning occasionally as they waited for the other Clans to show.

Similar to his medicine cat Clanmate, Strayheart wasn't thrilled to be at the Gathering that night. Unlike Tabs, however, the gray tabby cat padded in to Fourtrees hovering close to Thornwhisker's side. Not enough to seem clingy or creepy, of course! Just close enough to show that he had no intention of drifting or mingling with the other Clans... if and when they ever showed up, at least.
"Looks like we're here first," he commented quietly to Thornwhisker.

But RiverClan was only alone in the clearing for so long.
The ShadowClan patrol, for example, was small, although they swiftly closed in on Fourtrees. With Howlstar in the lead, they crouched in the bushes which overlooked the Gathering place; and after determining that yes, only one Clan had so far shown up, with a flick of his tail, Howlstar began to move, beckoning his Clanmates to follow.

Rainspots stayed close to her clanmates as the Shadowclan cats poured into the clearing. The other clans always made her nervous, even in times of peace.

Salmonstar watched calmly as Shadowclan arrived. He wrapped his tail around his paws, only the twitching of his tailtip betrayed his eagerness to begin the gathering.

Owlpaw followed his mentor beneath the oaks. He looked up at them in awe. He marveled at their great stature. His attention moved to the cats that were already gathered around the Great Rock. Owlpaw tasted the air, Riverclan!. Owlpaw recognized Riverclan's leader, Salmonstar sitting beside the Great Rock. He couldn't name any of the others.

Fishtail darted after Howlstar, barely remembering to stay behind his leader. His tail flopped over his back, puffed up with excitement.

As ShadowClan entered the clearing and the cats began to spread and drift apart to greet the warriors of RiverClan, Howlstar made a direct bee-line to the Great Rock.
With a smile and a twitch of the tail, one flawless leap had him up on the stone next to Salmonstar--whom he purred at in greeting, all too happy to sit next to the fellow Clan leader.
"Good evening, Salmonstar!" he meowed cheerily. "How is the prey running in RiverClan?"

Salmonstar purred. "Yes it is, Howlstar. Prey's running as fast as ever, but not so fast we can't catch it!" Salmonstar looked down at the cats that were beginning to mingle. "You're warriors look well fed."

Fishtail eagerly made his way toward the Riverclan cats to catch up on the gossip.

Flicking his tail and beaming huge, Howlstar settled in on the Great Rock, making himself comfortable with paws folded just so under his chest to wait for the other Clans.
"Thank you. We're always trying to catch enough fresh-kill for everyone," he purred, staring fondly over the cats mingling down below.
...And then perking up his ears and turning his gaze skyward. "Odd... ThunderClan and WindClan are very late."

Salmonstar nodded. "They've never been this late before." He glanced at the sky, would Starclan be angry? "I wonder what's happened."
